2021 Virtual Annual Conference

Has your life and ministry been upended?
Is the dynamic nature of community, culture, and religion here to stay?

Join us as we reimagine our transitional toolbox.  You will experience how your skills shape what it means to be a faith-based community now. Bring your resilience, curiosity, humor, playfulness, courage, perseverance, and mindfulness as we explore relevant theories and practices.

THREE KEY REASONS YOU SHOULD BE IN ATTENDANCE ARE THE PLENARY SESSION SPEAKERS!

Staying Opening to the Journey

Entering into the Unknown. What needs to emerge? For you? For the congregation? This is a time, unlike any before, where we must let go and let come in. We must see with fresh eyes and must imagine again and again what can be.

He serves on the Board of Cleveland Clinic’s CPT program and is chaplain for the Olmsted Township Police Department and is a Certified Hypnotherapist and Certified NLP Practitioner.

Forming Resilience for Transitional Ministry

How can you develop the resilience for facing the inevitable congregational resistance that comes in times of change? How can you create the conditions for forming greater congregational resilience for the next season of ministry?

Rev. Tod Bolsinger, Executive Director, DePree Center Church Leader Institute and Associate Professor of Leadership Formation at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Tod is the author of five books, including his latest, Tempered Resilience: How Leaders are Formed in the Crucible of Change. He has served as a pastor for 27 years and speaks, consults and coaches corporate, non-profit, educational, and church organizations in transformational leadership. He was the founder of the Fuller Leadership Platform, an innovative approach to online formation and leadership development and served as a Vice President of Fuller Seminary for six years.

Hosting the Theological Banquet

These times have stirred up an unparalleled search for meaning, hope, purpose and opportunities to make a difference in a threatened world. How do our congregations become places to wrestle with and respond to this moment? How does the church offer itself in these times? The Theological Banquet provides a lens and language to identify and name unspoken beliefs from the ground up and aid congregations to gain a renewed sense of the purpose while offering possibilities to work together across differences respectfully and effectively. Build capacity for faith-first leadership in theologically diverse congregations.

Rev. Janet Gear is an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada and served as an Assistant Professor I Practical Theology and Director of Formation for Vancouver School of Theology. Janet is on the Advisory Council for Pacific Jubilee and currently preaches, teaches, and leads retreats in British Columbia. Her primary focus of consultation with congregations and their leaders is in the area of theological diversity in congregational life. In 2018, she was made a McGeachy Senior Scholar, United Church of Canada, for her Theological Banquet work.
