ANNUAL CONFERENCE

About the IMN Annual Conference

Since its first conference in 1981 at the St. Benedict Center in Madison, Wisconsin, IMN has provided a welcoming gathering place where leaders from different denominations come together to explore innovative approaches to transitional leadership. What began as a conversation across faith traditions has grown into a vibrant annual event that continues to strengthen and shape leadership during times of congregational change.

Today, more than 26 denominations gather each year on this common ground to share best practices, examine emerging challenges, and discover what helps faith communities thrive during periods of transition. Participants engage in meaningful dialogue, collaborative learning, and practical problem-solving that supports effective ministry in changing environments.

The conference features nationally recognized keynote speakers, interfaith worship experiences, and a diverse selection of workshops covering topics such as trauma-informed leadership, emotional intelligence, grief in congregational transitions, discernment practices, artificial intelligence and its impact on the church, intercultural capacity building, virtual and hybrid ministry, resilience, and many other timely subjects.

Beyond the educational opportunities, the conference creates valuable space for denominational groups to meet together, discuss policies and practices, and strengthen connections within their own traditions. Equally important are the opportunities for fellowship and community building. Many participants return year after year to reconnect with colleagues and friends, build new relationships, and gain fresh insights that enhance their leadership and ministry.

The IMN Annual Conference is more than an event. It is a community of leaders committed to learning, growing, and equipping one another to serve faith communities faithfully through times of transition.

WHY DO YOU ATTEND THE IMN CONFERENCE?

The Attendee Perspective

“Great Information!
Love the long term access to video and thus being able to take all the workshops! Zoom was well used and the email communications about the zoom was GRAND!” Pastor C. Hart

“Great theme. Plenary with breakouts worked well. Workshops were a good variety – I like the option of the open conversations. Optional social times and Laugh Ins were fun.

I met new people and built relationships as well as being stimulated by the conversations and presentations.” J. Stephens, UCCN

“Having been a first-time attendee at the IMN Annual Conference, let me encourage you to attend whenever you can. But first, let me give you some of my personal background.” Philip Miller (click on button below to read Philips’ reflection)
